First in Queen’s Park Observer — SCHOOLS AND STADIUMS OUT? Multiple sources tell me the Ford government is planning to shutter schools in the new year as it stares down the threat of Omicron.
Details are scant — and it’s mostly crickets from the government’s circles — but rumour has it schools will face some type of closure early next year.
Dozens of schools have already closed to in-person learning because of Covid outbreaks while others have told parents to brace for the possibility of a return to virtual schooling after the winter break. That’s all happening as top doc KIERAN MOORE now warns that Omicron will put a greater strain on the hospital system. (More on that later.)
Big venues like stadiums will also close their doors, according to one source. That may appease some folks who have complained about larger venues staying open while social gatherings top out at 10 people.
