First in Queen’s Park Observer — Civil servants will be working from home for even longer than expected as the province stares down the threat of Omicron.
According to an OPS-wide memo from Cabinet Secretary MICHELLE DIEMANUELE dated December 16 — obtained by Queen’s Park Observer — roughly half, or 30,000 public servants, are being asked to continue working remotely, pushing the gradual return-to-work plan to March 31, 2022.
That’s a quick switch from earlier in the week, when the public service was told to continue working from home until February 7. (OPS had been gradually returning to their offices since November.)
“If this timing needs to change as the situation evolves, two weeks’ advance notice will be provided,” DiEmanuele wrote.
“As public servants, it is vital that we continue to do our part to help protect Ontario’s progress in the fight against COVID-19,” she went on to say. …
