HOW THE HEALTH DEAL IS PLAYING OUT — When Premier DOUG FORD unveiled details of the $3.1-billion health deal with the feds, there was one person in the stakeholder-packed room who had him gushing.
That would be DORIS GRINSPUN, longtime head of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario, who Ford says has a “special spot” in his heart. “Talk about staying on top of me, my goodness…She’s very passionate about making sure that we have enough nurses,” he said.
Grinspun tells me that’s a testament to their strong relationship. So, what’s her secret?
“The secret sauce is honesty. Not always you’re on the same page. Not always I have been on the same page with the Premier, or with previous premiers — but honesty and respect and knowing that we are coming from a good place.”
