PRESSURE MOUNTS — The heat is turning up on Premier DOUG FORD and then-Solicitor General SYLVIA JONES to take the stand at the Emergencies Act inquiry, as new details about the province’s handling of the situation (or not) emerge.
The latest call comes from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, which says the Ford government has some explaining to do in light of damning testimony from officials, including Ottawa Mayor JIM WATSON, that suggested the PCs shirked their responsibility and skipped out on meetings dealing with the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protests.
“It has become clear that their actions and inactions are of the utmost importance for Canadians and the commission to understand,” said CARA ZWIBEL, the CCLA’s director of fundamental freedoms.
