When the Premier’s away, the LCBO and OPSEU will return to the bargaining table. But before we dig in — the halls of power may be quiet this summer, but there’s fireworks at committee.

ON THE COMMITTEE CIRCUIT — New Democrats are looking to kick GOLDIE GHAMARI to the curb. The turfed-Tory-turned-Independent has chaired the Justice Policy committee for just over a year, but now that she’s been booted from the PC caucus, New Democrats say she shouldn’t lead the Justice committee, either.

The NDP will move a motion during today’s meeting, which is dedicated to the study on intimate partner violence. (That includes NDPer CATHERINE FIFE’s private member’s Bill 189, a.k.a. Lydia’s Law, aimed at helping survivors seek justice — which the PCs fast-tracked without debate, much to survivors’ chagrin.)

It could get awkward as Ghamari is committee chair. She’d essentially have to steer proceedings to kick herself out. Regular readers will know that, typically, most Oppo motions have…
