In the Liberal corner: The race to replace MERRILEE FULLERTON in Kanata—Carleton features a heavyweight that has many Tories shaking in their boots: KAREN McCRIMMON, the two-term MP and Canadian Armed Forces veteran who’s vying to turn the seat Liberal red.
McCrimmon’s political comeback is seen as a threat because she’s got name recognition, access to precious voter data, and an army of Hill staffers ready to knock doors for her, according to one insider.
The competition: In the PC corner is SEAN WEBSTER — a lobbyist who previously worked for weed company Canopy Growth — who’s hoping to hang on to the riding. He’s been pounding the pavement hard with front-benchers. For the NDP, it’s MELISSA COENRAAD, a medical lab technician and head of OPSEU Local 475.
