The Ford government set the stage for the next four years in the Speech from the Throne, which — surprise, surprise! — centered heavily on how to buttress the province in the face of DONALD TRUMP’s tariffs. We’ll get the fine print for the first step today: Breaking down interprovincial trade barriers. Meanwhile, we’ve got another clue on the spring budget. And let’s get ready to rumble! The first Question Period of the new Parliament goes off with a bang.

THRONE SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS — Much of the Speech from the Throne, read by Lieutenant Governor EDITH DUMONT, focused on the “chaos” and “uncertainty” swirling around U.S. tariffs. The government hit hard on its pledge to tackle interprovincial trade barriers and speed up approvals for mines in the Ring of Fire. Even the tunnel under the 401 got a mention.
