The bromance is back on.
For all the back-and-forth between Ottawa and Ontario over housing, the carbon tax and more —the Premier and Prime Minister have consistently found common ground when it comes to electric vehicles.
I’ve confirmed DOUG FORD and JUSTIN TRUDEAU will do just that, again, this morning in Port Colborne, where Honda is gearing up for the country’s first-ever lithium ion battery separator plant. Ford hinted at the announcement in last week’s Question Period, and the official word drops at 11:30 a.m.
Much of the fine print has already leaked. The new plant is part of the $15-billion expansion the automaker announced for its Alliston facility last month, to manufacture batteries and assemble an electric fleet.
Sticker price: The Niagara-region Port Colborne project is part of a partnership between Honda and Japan-based Asahi Kasei, which previously pegged the investment at $1.6 billion and said it will be up and running by October.
