DOUG FORD is taking his anti-tariff crusade to the American “kitchen table” with a fresh crop of television ads and a 25 per cent tax on their electricity.
But questions are swirling around the efficacy of the move.
“Oh, it makes a big difference,” Ford insisted when reporters pressed him on the impact of the 25-per-cent energy levy, which could bring in up to $400,000 provincially — chump change, relatively speaking, in a multi-billion-dollar trade war.
“You should see the uproar about the alcohol. They’re called Kitchen Table issues,” Ford went on to say, pointing to the fact Ontario has also taken American booze off LCBO shelves and banned U.S. companies from future procurement projects until the tariffs go the way of the dodo.
