Hyrdroelectrics up north, nurses schooled, surveying farmers, Francophone collab, making it rain for cybersecurity and livestock
January 21 — HYDROELECTRIC GENERATION: The province is asking Ontario Power Generation to look at opportunities for new hydroelectric development up north, with an eye to addressing growing long-term electricity needs. OPG and the Ontario Waterpower Association will “update previous evaluations of hydroelectric potential in northern Ontario with new estimates on water availability, annual energy production potential, and life-cycle costs of building and operating new hydroelectric generation while engaging with Northern and Indigenous communities.”
The review will also help inform the Independent Electricity System Operator’s work towards zero emissions in the sector.
