The news cycle has been unrelenting in the wake of the campaign — and we’re already an hour short on the day thanks to the time change, so let’s hop to it.
Closest to the Leg: So much for urgency. After stressing the need for a speedy mandate to deal with the ongoing tariff situation south of the border, DOUG FORD won’t be back in the Legislature until April 14, about six weeks after the election.
A Throne Speech is set for April 15, and the new cabinet will be sworn in March 19.
Ford has maintained that he can do what he needs to do to address tariffs via Cabinet, rather than legislation.
But for organizations closer to home, that means they’ll have to hold out a little longer for the budget — and all the certainty that that brings for the upcoming fiscal year.
Over in the courts: The Supreme Court has put the nail in the coffin of Ford’s controversial campaign finance law that restricted third party spending limits.
