BIG SPENDERS — Political financial disclosures continue to pour in — and I’ve parsed the latest filings to round up the top billing MPPs, and what they’ve charged the Legislative Assembly for travel, rent, support staff and more for fiscal 2022-23.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, MPPs who hail from the North clocked in with the highest travel expenses:

  1. SOL MAMAKWA (Kiiwetinoong): $43,976

  2. GREG RICKFORD (Kenora—Rainy River): $32,144

  3. JOHN FRASER (Ottawa South): $19,900

  4. GUY BOURGOUIN (Mushkegowuk—James Bay): $19,152

  5. MICHAEL MANTHA (Algoma—Manitoulin): $19,020

For rent in Toronto, so they can be close to work at Queen’s Park:

But first, a caveat: The max amount any MPP — (besides the Speaker, who has an apartment at the Legislature) — can charge for Toronto accommodation is $28,545. Ministers and Oppo leaders get a little more, up to $29,545 annually.
