Q+A: OSSTF HEAD KAREN LITTLEWOOD — It’s been about a year since Karen Littlewood took the helm of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation — and things haven’t slowed down.
From schooling in a pandemic to fighting wage-capping Bill 124 to ongoing rocky contract negotiations — Littlewood was thrown into the gig during a tumultuous time.
Yesterday, OSSTF was back at the bargaining table with the province. Here’s what Littlewood had to say about that, and more, during our Zoom chat (lightly edited for clarity and length):
— What’s top of mind during negotiations this week? We look forward to this week because we have some meetings for both the teacher and occasion teacher tables, as well as the education worker table. In OSSTF we have about 20,000 members who are education workers or support support staff. So I'm excited to see what the government is going to propose.
