PRIMER — Premier DOUG FORD is hosting his fellow first ministers on a pre-game virtual call this afternoon ahead of next week’s Council of the Federation meeting in Toronto. Here’s how it’s shaking out.
Around 4 p.m., the premiers will hop on a virtual call with Prime Minister JUSTIN TRUDEAU to talk about incoming President DONALD TRUMP’s tariff threat. The meeting is expected to last about an hour and Ford, who is this year’s COF chair, will scrum with reporters at Queen’s Park after, then hit the airwaves south of the border.
At 2:30 p.m.: Ford joins CNBC Power Lunch host KELLY EVANS…And last night: Ford returned to Fox News for another round with anchor NEIL CAVUTO.
What Trudeau will talk about: The Premiers are expecting an update from Trudeau about specific measures to address Trump’s tariff threat, something they discussed at their last meeting two weeks ago.
