PRIMER: FORD AND CHOW SIT DOWN — For the first time since she nabbed the mayor’s seat, Premier DOUG FORD will host Toronto Mayor OLIVIA CHOW for their first face-to-face meeting at his Queen’s Park office.
A rocky start: Ford has come a long way from when he predicted Chow, a so-called “lefty”, would be an “unmitigated disaster” for the city — now saying the pair can find “common ground.” Chow, too, has been collegial, after ripping Ford’s government apart on a bunch of policies.
Now, the odd couple will have to make it work in order to see through some of the PCs most ambitious policies, including the redevelopment of Ontario Place, new transit lines and thousands more housing units.
So, will it be smooth sailing? Here’s what’s top of mind for both leaders:
