DAMAGE CONTROL — It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for DOUG FORD.
The Premier was forced to clarify his explosive comments blaming immigrants for the weekend shooting at a Jewish girls’ school in North York.
What he said: The Premier was in Toronto to cut the ribbon on Sanofi’s new vaccine facility, which isn’t too far from where the shooting occurred. Ford, and Prime Minister JUSTIN TRUDEAU, who was also on hand for the announcement, both condemned the shooting — then, Ford took it a step further, seemingly pointing the finger at newcomers without any evidence.
“You’re bringing your problems from everywhere else in the world, you’re bringing it to Ontario, and you’re going after other Canadians,” he said. “I got an idea…Don’t come to Canada if you’re going to start terrorizing neighbourhoods like this. Simple as that. You want to come to Canada? You want to be a resident of Ontario? You get along with everyone.”
