FUNDRAISING WATCH — Try as they might, wannabe Liberal captains can’t knock heavyweight BONNIE CROMBIE off her money-making pedestal.
Regular readers will know we’ve been tracking Liberal leadership fundraising from the get-go — and now, we’ve got figures for all candidates on the board, thanks to Elections Ontario’s public disclosures. That includes donations for ADIL SHAMJI, the latest entrant into the race.
By the numbers:
Crombie’s cash arsenal punches in at $383,020, with an average donation of $1,994 from 193 folks. Actually: Crombie’s camp previously told me they’re clocking in at over half a million big ones. Most of the other contenders said they’ve raked in more than what’s reported publicly, too (but none come close to Crombie).
That’s because Elections Ontario doesn’t readily disclose smaller donations under $200, and there’s typically a lag in the receipts that do get posted — which means internal campaign numbers are likely more than wha…
