Happy Byelection Day, Ontario! After weeks of cutthroat campaigning, voters in Milton and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex head to the polls in a few hours, and we’ll find out who the two newest recruits at Queen’s Park will be shortly after 9 p.m. tonight.

The run-up to today has been intense — especially in battleground Milton.

The Grits were having trouble nailing down a candidate when BONNIE CROMBIE decided not to run, eventually landing on GALEN NAIDOO HARRIS. Crombie is also experiencing some growing pains as infighting among grassroots organizers bubbles up.

DOUG FORD and the PCs — who have been making it rain with goody announcements and sending heavyweight front-benchers to canvass in the riding — took flak for picking a candidate who was, up until some weeks ago, a Liberal (and ZEE HAMID even met with Crombie about potentially running under her banner). Meanwhile, the keffiyeh ban and hot-potato quarry project are making waves.
