STRANGE BEDFELLOWS — Ousted PC GOLDIE GHAMARI was removed as chair of the Standing Committee on Justice Policy at yesterday’s meeting. PC WILL BOUMA will take over as acting chair throughout the summer as MPPs continue their study on intimate partner violence. Here’s what went down:
The PCs stole the NDP’s thunder — KRISTYN WONG-TAM gave word that they were going to move a motion calling for Ghamari’s removal but the PCs beat them to the punch. Bouma recognized the PC bench before the NDP side, so they got the credit for the motion removing Ghamari. It passed unanimously.
Ghamari was a no-show — but she did point out to Global that the PCs tend to boot their ex-MPPs from committee as soon as they can, and accused the NDP of trying to score political points.
