ABOVE THE FOLD

While you were weekending — The PC Party faithful descended on Richmond Hill to kick off what’s shaping up to be an autumn of campaign prep. Meanwhile, the first Tory candidates are locked in ahead of a possible snap vote next spring.

Premier DOUG FORD rallied the troops on Saturday in a fiery address that pumped up his moves to tackle crime and cost-of-living — and, naturally, he took the opportunity to bash Liberal Leader BONNIE CROMBIE. (Consider it a payback of sorts as Crombie dissed Ford in her own speech to card-carrying Grits).

Ground game: Local organizers and riding association presidents heard from war room veterans about everything from fundraising tactics to get-out-the-vote strategies. They’ll do it again next month in Ottawa, where the PCs are looking to make up ground.
